May Neighborhood Update / Eastside Equestrian Life

Eastside Equestrian Life Business of the month

in Gilman Village, Issaquah

Everywhere I go I see the popularity of the Hunter brand rubber barn boot. They seem to be on everyone from shoppers in the mall to girls in the barn and I can't blame anyone for wanting them. After all, we have our fair share of puddles to slog through in the Pacific Northwest. Truth be told though, they are not terribly comfortable to wear for long periods of time, even if they are a cool fashion statement. I, however, have been searching for something more; a rubber boot that is comfy, chic and practical- boots I can stand in all day while waiting for my daughter at her horse shows and still look sharp running out to the grocery store.

Thanks to Splendid Avenue in Gilman Village, I have found a heavenly treasure trove of boots. Behold the rubber boots of Denmark's Ilsa Jacobsen! Splendid Avenue specializes in all things Scandinavian and who understands rain better than Seattleites but Scandinavians? These boots come in an array of heel sizes (taller heels for those of us who are vertically challenged) all the way to flats for walking your puppies up and down downtown Seattle's hills. They come in several styles and colors, ankle and tall, and with laces or zippers. Here's the best part: Jacobsen's makes them with handmade rubber, felt linings and arch support! These imported boots breathe without letting in any of the icky mud or water and are reasonably priced which is always welcome. Stop by Splendid Avenue in Issaquah's Gilman Village, say hello to the visionary owner Monika Claassen, and see an entire store dedicated to Scandinavian style from boots to home décor and more. You can also go to www.splendidavenue.com to see all the goodies on-line.

Continued strong demand has pushed home prices in King County close to their 2007 peak. Faced with record low inventory and anxiety about rising interest rates, buyers are snapping up homes as soon as they come on the market. What is tough news for buyers is a boon for sellers. A recent analysis of home sales in King County showed that 41 percent sold for over list price.

Every year since 1984, Windermere associates have dedicated a day away from work to complete neighborhood improvement projects. Creating vibrant communities is one of the things that inspire us to be involved in service projects that make things a little brighter for all our neighbors.

At Windermere Bellevue Commons we have partnered with Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center.  Our agents and staff will take the day off from real estate and  work on various projects around this amazing facility.  For more information about Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center and what they do for the community, click here.
